If you grew up in the nineties like I did it was probably your first introduction to the series. The game that started it all! Released in December of 1998 Secrets Can Kill introduced the world to Nancy Drew in a whole new way. So, without further ado, here are The Top Five Nancy Drew Games by Her Interactive. It’s funny sometimes the things that remain with us from childhood and the things that don’t. My childhood friend and I are no longer close and that boyfriend from years’ past and I no longer see each other. I say this all with a touch of bittersweet nostalgia. Picking up this one game reignited something within me and set me on a path to becoming a lifelong gamer. In the years that had elapsed since I had last played I had forgotten how much fun the games were and was immensely impressed by both the newly enhanced graphics and engaging game play. But when I did I found something remarkable. I wouldn’t get around to actually popping the game in and sitting down to play it until a week later.
I decided to buy the game on a whim as a kind of last ditch effort to make what had turned out to be a lousy trip somewhat worthwhile. In one of those karmic fate like moments while wondering through another endless aisle of electronics I didn’t care for I spotted the bright purple packaging of Her Interactive’s Nancy Drew: Tomb of the Lost Queen. For reasons I no longer remember I had traveled to the States with my then boyfriend for a cross border shopping trip. Over time my life became more hectic and as my interests changed I slowly became less interested in Nancy’s adventures and eventually stopped playing all together.

I was first introduced to the series by my childhood best friend and as a result some of my fondest memories are of the two of us passing the mouse back and forth as we worked through Nancy’s latest mystery. “Overall Sea of Darkness was an enjoyable game, especially if you enjoy “brain teaser” puzzles that are more challenging than what’s found in today’s casual games.“ It’s up to you as Nancy Drew” Whispers the voice of the titular sleuth in each and every one of Her Interactive’s promotional videos since the series began back in 1998. Even those who are not as interested in the genre should check this game out, and will probably enjoy it like I did.” While this style of game may not be everyone’s favorite, for those who do enjoy it this game comes highly recommended. The game looks better than I expected, had an interesting story, and difficult puzzles that kept me in to the game. “Overall I was pleasantly surprised by this game. So grab a copy and, as Her Interactive challenges you to do in the opening titles, “Dare to Play.””
The price point is well worth the hours of enjoyment you’ll receive from solving a mystery alongside the most famous young female detective of all time. If you’re a new player, looking for the perfect game out of the 32 to get started with, I’d highly recommend this one as a prime example of the quality of the series.
If you’re a seasoned player of the Nancy Drew mysteries, I think you’ll be pleased with this entertaining title. “Nancy Drew: Sea of Darkness presented a well-woven plot to uncover, an interesting back-story of both the characters and the town, and a set of puzzles and circumstances that were challenging, but not frustratingly difficult.
